How can I create a weekly digest that sends 5 items from my database via a cron-job to all subscribed users in my contacts?

Hi, self-hosting plunk with docker compose.

I can spin up the instance completely fine but I keep running into this issue.

I have triple checked all my environment variables, API_URI, APP_URI to all include https:// in front instead of http: but it keeps defaulting back to http. 

any call I make will be blocked by the mixed content error due to using http.

I'm getting the following error message when trying to send an email via the Plunk SMTP server.

Connection could not be established with host "ssl://smtp.useplunk.com:465": stream_socket_client(): Unable to connect to ssl://smtp.useplunk.com:465 (Connection timed out)

Any ideas?

Will Plunk support routing for incoming mails?

Hi guys, what is the best way to make a tra ked campaing email? I basically want to send an ebook to users and track which mails and how much mails received and downloaded the ebook.

I’ve included an animated GIF in a campaign email. It shows up correctly in the editor, but when I send a test email, it is being included as a .gif image and not rendering correctly.

I'm new to the email providers stuff but I chose to use Plunk a few days ago because it seemed very friendly and easy, and so far I love it.

I just have 2 things that are bothering me, and I wonder if they can be solved:

1. Mobile display - when I open the email on my phone, it looks small and unreadable, as opposed to what I see in emails from other companies (screenshot provided). I'm not sure how that works but is it possible to automatically enlarge and indent the text for the emails if read on mobile?

2. Email footer - is it possible to create a more professional looking footer (screenshot provided), like with a logo and social links, etc.? 

Another thing, not critical - but just wondering if it's possible to remove the "Sent by plunk" sticker? I totally understand if not and it doesn't bother me as much, but still, I believe emails can look more professional when it looks like they were sent from the actual company 🙂

Nothing wrong with this, just make sure the template type is set to transactional and you're all good :)

Dashboard only show some 10 entries. It's not practicle to go into each contact and then see who opened email etc.

If you duplicate a template and then rename it and delete it the open/delivered triggers for than template remain. (I dont know if thats on purpose or not.)

Furthermore if you duplicate a template it has the same name. And the trigger name is also the same so its hard to differentiate between both templates. And if i rename the template then the triggers name wont get updated.

When editing a previously created Action, de-selecting triggers from "Exclude contacts with triggers" and clicking save does not seem to update the input..

I've been successful in using the Zapier integration & so far have only been sending emails from it. I just modified it today to also send the name as metadata. Does the config in screenshot look correct?

If we send emails to users using either actions or campaigns, what happens when they reply? 

I just put a dummy user through my workflow & obsereved a few things: 
1. The email is received from a rather vague adddress "0113018ad6349ff8-fc1b1ced-1165-47a1-9664-f8afe1e65ae7-000000@eu-west-3.amazonses.com" 

My project has a verified domain. 

Where do we mention the email from which users receive the emails? e.g. (hello@woopulse.io) I don't see this setting anywhere & not sure if emails are being sent from my this id. 

2. If someone replies to the message they receive from above email, where do they receive it? 

Am I missing something in my setup?

Hi, I'm not sure why but my emails are no longer being sent. I trigerred the things from the dashboard twice and it was landing in promotions but after that it's just completely post. I'm concerned if it's anything to do with my DNS.

When I use the transactional email API to send a message, all the newline characters got trimmed out. So the text in the body of the *request* looked like:

but the resulting email I received looked like:

How can I have the message preserve the newslines as plaintext?

I am revisiting a feature request here, if it makes sense for other users & for you as the business owner. 

While I understand that Plunk allows me to send automated transaction emails from code & also via Zapier & Webforms & they work great. I still have my reservations about how Campaigns work. 

Currently Campaign are great for sending one off emails straight from the Plunk Portal. Again it works like a charm. But I think having a feature to send replies or follow ups to same campaigns without needing to create new ones could be a great help as well. 

Here's a use case: 
I send a follow up email using campaign to a few selected users. 
After 2 days, I want to send another follow up in the same thread. 
May be after another 3 days, I want to add one more message to the same email chain to the same set of people. 

This is currently missing from it. These are emails created & sent right from the Plunk Portal. Manually. Would love to know your thoughts on the same.

Hey there, we sent a campaign recently and presumably a lot of clicks were involved in it, but the data is empty on the dashboard. Any idea why?

Currently we only have 2 major type of email sends: 
1. Actions => Triggers based on an event 
2. Campaigns => Sends one time email to filtered contacts 

I'd like to propose one more which I assume should be helpful for ohers too/ 

3. Loops => These are repeatable campaigns. Or existing campaigns should allow adding new users to it manually & when done, should send the same email to these newly added users. 

This way I don't need to create a new campaign only because I've some new users who fit the criteria of an existing campaign. 

I hope I was able to clarify the use case. Let me know if there is anything else I can add.

I don't want to delete them as I may resume them again. But would like to A/B test & hence want to create a different sequence. Is there a way to disable existing actions?

Hey there, it seems like there may be an issue creating actions with delays, it throws this field error. I was able to work around it by creating w/o delay and then editing it

Hello all, 
How do I see analytics specific to a campaign? On the campaign tile, I see see 42% open rate, but if I want to see which contacts open this campaign, where & how can I do this? 

One workaround I've found is to create a new campaign & filter for specific events to see which contacts get selected. This works but is not ideal to create a new dummy campaign every time just to see who opened the email in another campaign. 

Let me know if I am missing something please.

Hi is there a way to center images in the editor so that they align better with the text in the test & live emails

I have created a template and added the metadata like this "{{recoveryUrl}}" and its not being sent in the email. when i click on the contact i can see that the metadat is there.

Hi, I am unable to login. I input my credentials > loading animation beings but it never completes.

I have cleared cookies and cache multiple times without any effect. The only notable and recent event I can think of is I upgraded/inputted my credit card.

Hi folks, I checked the docs but couldn't find any emails about adding a dynamic image link from an event into a template. 
Can I get some help?

I just send a dozen or so emails to subscribers with the transactional email API. One of them got an auto-reply like:

What's that about? Did the recipient NOT get the email? Should I send it to them manually? Or did they get it and this is just some warning?

Hey there, it seems we aren't able to successfully send a campaign anymore. I hit Save and Send on our latest campaign, but it didn't do anything after confirming it, and the # of selected contacts went from >10k to only 1k; it's still in draft mode. I think the system cannot handle this many contacts well, is there any way to improve it?

In the past, the editor seemed to stuggle with 7-8k contacts, but now it can't send at all.

I already setup the cname, mx and txt in the dns of my domain however the domain isnt verified yet

In my project events are getting triggered but the mails not delivered.

It would be awesome to have a function to send marketing mails once a user is subscribed. 

For example:

1. User X signed up to newsletter on website to get a discount
2. User X confirms signup and agrees to receive marketing emails
3. User X receives mail with discount

Could you add the email template to the webhook? I want to automate something where it would be usefull to see from what template the email came.

Within my plunk account > project is named 'ReviewPort Waitlist' > contacts page > the column titled last activity reads 'just a few seconds ago' for almost all contacts but I don't think there has been any activity.

If a contact already exists, and is not subscribed. Is there a way to re-subscribe them after they trigger another event?
ex. A "notify me when this is ready" type email.

I tested this by having a user unsubscribed, then sending `subscribed: true` in an api /track event.

It's not perfect but what you can do is select no events in the action, that way it will be in a "disabled" state
